Catchup meeting: African refugee protests, Sharon’s legacy, Prawer Plan

We’ll be having our first meeting of term Wednesday, 22nd January, 6 – 8pm.
We will be discussing recent events in Israel/ Palestine (and there’s been plenty!), including:

– The recent strike and protest movement of African refugees in Israel calling for fair treatment and asylum policies – “no more prisons”

– The Prawer Plan for the displacement of 30,000 Bedouin from the Negev – what was it, what were responses to it, what’s going on now

– Ariel Sharon’s death and his contested legacy
– anything else you would like to discuss

You can join the fb event and see some related readings here
It’s a good opportunity to meet us in a quite informal meeting if you’ve never been to a SOASIS event before, and we will also end with a short organising meeting to plan future events, so if you have any ideas, let us know!

Room 116, main building of SOAS Russell Sq campus. As always, our events are wheelchair accessible (please contact us if you have any access requirements we can help with) and open to all, but racism or prejudice of any kind will not be tolerated.
