Events on the week marking Israeli Independence, the Palestinian Nakba, and the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising

We’ve got two events this week, so take a break from the library and join us for stimulating discussion and food, all welcome as always:

Tomorrow! (Monday 15th April), 7.30pm in room 4418 of the SOAS main building.
On this day is marked Israeli independence, (Yom Ha’atzmaut) and the Palestinian Nakba. We will be marking it with a short film screening and discussion:
Homeland? On Jewishness, Israeliness and identity

Some of us will also be meeting an hour earlier (6.30pm) to continue going over issues from our AGM, feel free to join us if you would like to discuss the role and activities of the SOAS Israel Society past, present and future.

Friday 19th April, 7pm in room 4418 of the SOAS main building.
In Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, SOAS Israel society will be screening the film “Conspiracy“, starring Kenneth Branagh, Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth. The film recreates the Wannsee Conference, which architected the Final Solution.
The film will be followed by a discussion moderated by Mujahid Dattani; everyone is welcome to attend. There shall be food, and free badges with the symbol of the Jewish Combat Organisation.
